Communication Coach

I enjoyed my career as an actor – especially the thrill of telling a story and holding an audience’s attention. The lessons I learnt about voice, posture, energy and performance have served me well across the years, as I have helped my clients.

My real passion however was directing. Directing, however, is really just coaching – bringing out the best in people. This led naturally to work I do today. I began with ‘public speaking training’, progressed to coaching Start Up founders and then I accelerated my career through corporate training programmes and executive coaching.

Along the way, I have also worked as a keynote speaker in education and still, from time to time, deliver motivational speeches in schools to students about to embrace their adult life. It’s always a thrill to do this work and I believe if I can hold a room of surly 16 year olds for two hours, I may have a mandate to help others with their communication!

These days I extensively partner with GSB Comms (gsbcomms.co.uk), and you may well have met me or be working with me under the GSB banner. We are a collective of like-minded and similarly skilled individuals with a passion to help teams become empathetic listeners and compelling communicators.

Through GSB I regularly coach PE owned businesses preparing to exit as well as deliver training in communication skills. For many years now we have run the flagship new Partner training programme for one of the Big Four.

I founded Blue Caterpillar Learning & Development in 2006 as an umbrella for the various aspects of my portfolio career. This remains the holding company for Blue Caterpillar Education and Tim Benton Comms as well as much of the work I conduct as part of GSB (you may be invoiced via BC L&D).

MY CLIENTS

Here are some of the companies and organisations I’ve previously had the pleasure of working with:

"It seems like the term ‘master class’ is thrown around indiscriminately these days and it degrades the term’s ability to describe a truly superlative experience and teacher. Tim’s coaching on communication fits the true meaning of the term. Even if I’ve been through many a roadshow and prepared countless slide decks, my skills have been measurably and significantly improved. I could not recommend Tim more highly"

Aaron Powers, CEO, Hunit

“I think that Tim did a great job! The day that I joined was pretty impressive from your side. I would definitely recommend you when we have other management presentations or other presentations where training is required. See you next time!”

Henk Ellens, ING

"On behalf of the complete team, I would like to thank you very much for all your patience, ideas and invested hours to get us to where we needed to be - we are done and have delivered. The presentations were a huge success and - according to third parties - they set a new standard for Management Presentations - thank you!”

Dagmar Schmidt, President, Xsys

"Just wanted to say a huge thank you for the session yesterday. We’ve had some great feedback from attendees"

Kelvin Keane, Microsoft

“Dear Tim, thanks for our training sessions! Our joint work is extremely helpful for our current process and - just as important – it was a great experience and so much fun! The potential buyers’ feedback was overwhelming!”

Andreas Laabs, CFO LR Holding

“Thank you for being so passionate to help us in order to be influential, introduce our ideas, manage situations, and build strong connections with others.”

Khatib Alami , Course Participant
